Carbonation (corrosion penetration) and detection and mapping the relative concrete condition for rehab planning.

Deteriorated concrete detected by high resolution ground penetrating radar.

Third Generation 2600MHz antenna with unsurpassed data resolution for concrete investigations.

FIRE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

The Schmidt hammer impact tester can quickly delineate areas of sound concrete from fire affected concrete.

Carbonation is one of the two main causes of corrosion of steel in concrete.

Gives depth of carbonation.

Carbonation testing consists of a colored dye that is sprayed on the surface of the concrete.  The solution will change to pink in uncarbonated concrete and remain colorless when sprayed on carbonated (low pH) concrete.
By spraying the solution along a core drilled from the top surface down to the reinforcement bar, it can be readily seen how far the carbonation has progressed.  The sample on the left shows the carbonation has reached the top of the rebar and corrosion has started.
